Talk to my hand
Talk to my hand...
and my hand will give all the answers!
Worked on these illustrations for a recent project. A marriage, a fusion of traditional henna patterns with hand signs - the latest trend.

Mumbai Love
MUMBAI, not just a city of dreams but of reality and existence...
For a recent project, I illustrated these monuments that are an identity of this city where dreams come true.

Mondays at the Market

I like going to the market on Mondays. Its a start full of inspiration for the long week!
The Crawford Market, one of my favorite places since I have come to Mumbai. For four years I was studying my grad school right next to Crawford market and then when I was in Ahmadabad for my masters, I always looked for reasons to come to Mumbai and visit the vast market. Today when I live in the suburbs, in-spite of it being far away, I do not find any other market as interesting, as convenient and as friendly as the Crawford market.
From fruits and vegetables to dry fruits and chocolates, paper and colors to beads and jewelry, threads and fabrics to clothes line and laundry bags, bulbs and lanterns to pens and books, poly bags and china made toys to leather belts and luggage bags, party decorations and art frames to hardware equipment and machinery, cutlery and dining sets to kitchen and table linen, curtains and beds to anything and everything.
And it is more fun when shopkeepers know you as you are a frequent visitor :)

Colorful Blots
As a kid, I loved making such blots and I still do...
What I like is the fact no two blots are alike, they are accidental and cannot be controlled. They are magic! These blots make you think beyond reality, they extend your limits of visualization and creative thinking.
On the birth anniversary of Harmann Rorchach's I get to post some colorful patterns I developed using the blot technique.

Water COLOUR or COLOR?
In school I learnt the spelling as COLOUR. I do not know when it became COLOR. Aarghh...now it is so confusing! MS word does not accept COLOR and emails show a red line with COLOUR. Internet reads COLOR while books have COLOR and COLOUR both.
I just like it, be it COLOR or COLOUR.
Here is some water color/colour from this week's work.

Butterfly Paper Clips
Do you like pattern-full and colorful stationery? I love it! Like I have these colorful rubber bands and patterned binder clips. Found a box full of tatted butterfly paperclips yesterday. I made these about three years back and had forgotten completely. But now they are up on the blog :)
You like?

Another wedding card...
I love designing wedding cards and last month I had a chance to design a wedding card for one of my friend. Made a pattern of stylized lily motif all over and colored it with auspicious hues of turmeric- the Indian Holy Powder.

Wishing
Harshal and Liana
a lifetime of love and togetherness.

Whispering 'it will be happier'...” by Alfred Tennyson
Do you believe in 'end of the world'? Ah! Me?? O! May be yes, but not today! :)
My New Year cards are ready to post. Are they rocking enough? Do let me know!

My New Tactile Resume
I was bored with the boring paper resumes, so thought how about having a fabric resume?
And yes, the thought materialised with printed poplins backed with leftover khadi, ikats, blockprints and some dobby weaves; to be rolled and tied like scrolls :)

PS: Resume on request :P

I love coasters. Recently made these coasters and named them "cutting chai" as they are made of "cutting" wastes :D and I am more of a chai person!
