It's getting cold

I heard from a friend that it has snowed heaps and hills in Canada in past few days. It's getting cold here too, but I still do not need an extra blanket :P

Another Reindeer

Writing a story is difficult. I tried hard to write a story on reindeers supporting the designs but no just couldn't make it :( Thought some words, sentences and paragraphs could bind these four visuals together and create an interesting anecdote of its kinds... but nooooo, I was too bad at this reindeer story atleast. If you could built up a story around these visuals I would be glad!

PS: These designs are developed for table and kitchen linen for the eve of Christmas.

Yesterday while I was walking past streets in Cuffe Parade, I saw kids decorating a Christmas tree well in advance! I'm sure each day the Christmas tree has more added ornaments to it. And here I think of the gifts and the socks. Santa, gifts and the socks builds up the Christmas excitement!

The advent of Christmas

Half of November is already past, fall is almost to an end with the beginning of winter and Christmas... and everyone is busy working on and posting Christmas stuff on blogs... decoration ideas, gift ideas, card ideas… etc! So I thought I should also post some Christmas pattern ideas!! Anyone out there wants to buy some Christmas patterns for cards/fabrics/stationery/tableware or any exploratory purpose??

Kirigami Snowflakes

Crafty Christmas! Snowflake is a nice dynamic Christmas motif. Having a 3D geometry, the snowflake motif is always shown in a hexagonal 2D geometric shape. Working on the Christmas concept with paper, I crafted a few kirigami snowflakes but in an octagonal shape. Folding and cutting paper to get an eight angled snowflake is easier than getting a six edged. I preferred the easier way out and it was good fun folding and cutting paper to get different shapes each time you unfold it.

Technique inventors… Japanese are smart people. I am familiar to a few A few Japanese techniques like origami, kirigami, shibori, sashiko. I’m sure there are many more. They also have amusing and bewitching names like wabi sabi, fuva fuva, boro boro, shimi zimi etc. all of which are great design inspirations.
